Abstract
Objective:We discuss and reseach seventeen cases of central neurocytoma in intraventriclar,in order to improve recognition this disease. Methods:All cases stained with hematoxylin and eosin for routine histopathologic processing. For the immunohistochemical study,paraffin-embedded sections were stained with GFAP,NF,NSE and synaptophysin. All cases have made diagnosis by light microscopy.Electron microscopy have done in some cases. Results:Under microscopy:every case's pathologic changes was similar, the neoplasm was composed of uniform cells with round nuclei, some areas of small cells with perinuclear halos, which resembles an oligodendroglioma. An immunohistochemical examination revealed evidence of neuronal marker.Electron microscopy demonstrated of neuronal ultrastructural features, including neurosecretory granales. Conclusion:Compared with literature and follow-up examination, central neurocytoma is a neuronal lineage, and benign tumor with a favorable clinical course.Postoperative radiation therapy should be considered, especially in cases of subtotal tumor removal or of a histologically malignant form.
