Effect of ethamsylate on serum creatinine by dry and wet chemistry assay

  • Objective To study the effect of ethamsylate on serum creatinine by dry and wet chemistry assay. Methods Serum creatinine levels in experimental and control groups were measured by referring to the interference test and statistically analyzed. Results When the serum ethamsylate concentration was above 9.38mg/L, the serum creatinine level measured by dry and wet chemistry was lower than its real level, and was much lower measured by wet chemistry than by dry chemistry. When the concentration of ethamsylate was 300.00mg/L, the real serum creatinine level was 66.90μmol/L. The serum creatinine level was 40.78μmol/L and 17.35μmol/L measured by dry and wet chemistry, respectively. The higher the ethamsylate concentration was, the lower the creatinine level was. Furthermore, the effect of ethamsylate on creatinine by wet chemistry assay was much stronger than that by dry chemistry assay. Conclusion When the serum concentration of ethamsylate reaches 9.38mg/L, ethamsylate exerts its effect on creatinine by dry and wet chemistry assay, indicating that the serum creatinine level should be measured when the serum concentration of ethamsylate is lower than 9.38mg/L.
