Studies on the effects of noise exposure on receptor potentials recording from supporting cells of Guinea-pig cochlea

Abstract
Supporting cells from the low frequency region of the guinea pig cochlea were studies in vivo before and after noise exposure using intracellular recording techniques. Response characteristics of the supporting cells to tone of various sound levels and frequencies were compared to potentials recorded in the organ of Corti fluid space. The input output curves of amplitudes of potentials in the scale media and supporting cells have the same tendency before and after noise exposure, which suggest no matter where the receptor potents are recorded, they all reflects the property of hair cells.
