Resection of sellar neoplasm through septo sphenoid approach

  • Sellar neoplasm were resected through septo sphenoid approach in 76 cases. Ethmoid vertical plate and the vomer were preserved for later defect repair, and structures removed for approach were placed back to restore local anatomy and physiology. For cases in which postoperative bleeding was a potential threat, drainage was secured via a plastic tube. The results were satisfactoy, with no serious morbidity or mortality. Surgical techniques, prevention of postoperative complications and management of tumor recurrences are discussed.
