Manifestations of fluorescein angiography of anterior ischemic optical neuropathy

This article reported for the findings of fluorescein angiography in 34 eyes of 22 cases suffering from anterior ischemic optic neuropathy（AION）.There was low or high fluorescein in partial or whole disc in the early stage of less than 2 weeks of duration.In the case of high fluorescein of the whole disc,the leakage of fluorescein began in the early venous phase and became intensified thereafter.Low disc fluorescein was always observed in those cases with those the history of more than 2 weeks and the fluorescein characteristics of optic atrophy developed gradually. There often existed the localized low choroidal background fluorescein near the disc in different clinical stages.The mechanisms noted above was discussed.The fluorescein angiography is considered to be of important value in the differential diagnosis and understanding of AION.
