The pathological study on rats treated with compound anisodine

Objective:To observe the toxic reactions and the toxic target organs of rats treated with compound anisodine.Methods:The toxic pathological changes were evaluated in Wistar rats subcutaneously administrated with compound anisodine 8.08, 40.4 and 323.2 mg/kg daily for 6 weeks. Results:Except for the slight scab apeared at the injected site in the 40.4 mg/kg group, there were no other toxic effects in the 8.08 and 40.4 mg/kg groups. However, in the 323.2 mg/kg group, the toxic responses including local necrosis, ulceration and scar formation at the administrated area of the skin occurred. The animals were inactive and body weight increased slowly. About one-fourth （8/30） rats of this group showed clinic convulsion following injection. In addition, bacteremia revealed in nearly half of the animals because of the large area of skin necrosis and ulceration. The cutaneous infection also spread to the abdominal organs.Conclusion:This study suggests that the injection area and the central nerves systerm maybe the toxic target organs of compound anisodine.
