Treatment of stress urinary incontinence in females with tension-free vaginal tape procedure: A report of 100 cases

  • Objective To study the effect of tension-free vaginal tape(TVT) procedure on stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in females. Methods Therapeutic effects of TVT procedure on SUI in 100 females and its complications were retrospectively analyzed. Results The mean operation time was 26min and the mean blood loss was 15ml. The patients were followed up for 2-24 months, during which their urinary function was recovered quite well. Of the patients, 1 had dysuria which was cured after urethral catheterization and drug treatment, 1 complained about mild retropubic discomfort, and 2 underwent sling lysis or repair of short residual prolapse of pelvic floor due to complications or unsatisfactory outcome of TVT procedure. Conclusion TVT procedure is a safe, simple, minimally invasive and effective surgical procedure for SUI in females.
