The parameter of motor unit potential in neuromuscular diseases

The duration and voltage of motor unit potentials at weak voluntary effort as well as the peak voltage at the maximal contraction in 192 patients with various neuromusculer diseases, including 56 cases of myogenic atrophy. 48 of spinal anterior horn diseases, neuropathy and nerve injuries.The results showed that there were significant reduction of mean duration in disease of myogenic origen. marked increase in it in diseases of neurogenic origen. Iowering of mean voltage as well as peak voltage in diseases of myogenic origen and elevation of them in neurogenic diseases. In conclusion. we consider that the mean duration is a reliable parameter to differenciate myogenic muscular atrophy from diseases of neurogenic origen.
