Isolation-ldentification of Salmonella Worthington and Study of lts Biological Character

We isolated 8 strains of Salmonella worthington from stool, blood and cerebrospinal fluid specimens from 5 newborns during an outbreak of nosocomial infection in a newborn intensive care unit. The antigenic formulas of these strains are 13:23:z:l, w. Their characteristics of physiology, biochemistry, pathogenicity and susceptibility were studied systematically. One strain is resistant to 16 antibiotics, the others are sensitive to most antibiotics.
