Therapeutic efficiency of topiramate alone and co-administration in children epilepsy

  • Objective: To investigate the clinical effectiveness and safety of toprimate in children epilepsy.Methods: topiramate was used in 69 children with newly diagnosed epilepsy or as supplementary therapy for those poorly controlled patients frequency of after full dose toprimate was studied based on episode 3 month before topiramate therapy or ≥2 times episode patients and then calculate effective percentage.Results: The total effectiveness of topiramate for childhood epilepsy is 85.5% with 56.5% in topiramate use alone and 52.2% in those of topiramate supplement therapy. There is 33.3% cases.in minor manifestation except 2 with frequent onset. Conclusion: Topiramate may be used as a first line drug for childhood epilepsy for its effectiveness and safety.
