Enzyme-labeled SPA immunoenzymic assay for detection of herpes simplex virus(HSV)antibodies in sera from patients with cervical carcinoma

  • The method for detecting antibody against herpes simplex virus in sera of patients with cervical carcinoma by enzyme-labeled SPA immunoenzymic assay was described and compared with the immunofluorescence and enzyme-labeled antibody immunoenzymic assay. The results suggested that a marked difference in frequency and GMT of IgG and antibody to HSV-2 was present in patients with cervical carcinoma and women in general.Sensitivity and specificity of these three methods are similar, yet enzyme-labeled SpA method is more advantageous and is suitable for wide application.Counterstain with trypan blue is useful to eliminate non-specific reaction.A better result can be obtained if the cell slids are washed with slow running water instead of in PBS.
