Enzyme-labeled SPA immunoenzymic assay for detection of herpes simplex virus（HSV）antibodies in sera from patients with cervical carcinoma

The method for detecting antibody against herpes simplex virus in sera of patients with cervical carcinoma by enzyme-labeled SPA immunoenzymic assay was described and compared with the immunofluorescence and enzyme-labeled antibody immunoenzymic assay.The results suggested that a marked difference in frequency and GMT of IgG and antibody to HSV-2 was present in patients with cervical carcinoma and women in general.Sensitivity and specificity of these three methods are similar,yet enzyme-labeled SpA method is more advantageous and is suitable for wide application.Counterstain with trypan blue is useful to eliminate non-specific reaction.A better result can be obtained if the cell slids are washed with slow running water instead of in PBS.
