Ipsilateral ataxic hemiparesis-report of 20 cases

  • 20 cases of ipsilateral ataxic hemiparesis were reported in this article.these patients included 18 males and 2 females aged 47~79 years with an average of 65 years.the main clinical menifestations were:1.only mild motor weakness,which of the lower limb was more severe than that of the upper arm in most of the patients;2,a definite cerebellar ataxia out of proportion to the mild degee of weakness;3.facial palsy which was more frequent than tongue palsy;4. heminumbness of the limb,which was complicated in most of the patients.on the basis of C Tscanning,the localization of the lesion is in the outside body of lateral ventricle in 8 cases;in the posterior limb of internal capsule and the superior portion of them in 3;in the ventral portion of pons in 1 and superior portion of anterior limb of internal capsule in 1.The causation is mostly hypertensive arteriosclerosis.the prognosis is usually good.
