The principles of diagnosis and treatment of SARS combined by Chinese traditional medicine and Western medicine

The diagnosis of SARS is currently based on the emendatory standards enacted by the Minister of Health.However ，there are not objective methods can be applied clinically.Western medical treatment includes antivirus therapy，cortin therapy ，the use of antibiotics，oxygen therapy，serum therapy with the serum of convalescent patients，etc.SARS belongs to the fever diseases in the opinion of Chinese traditional medicine.Therefore，the treatment of SARS mainly depends on the stage and symptom of this disease.The challenge we are faced with is to exert the advantages of combined treatment of Chinese traditional medicine and Western medicine.We should not only make further studies of the performance of Chinese traditional medicine on antivirus，treatment of symptom，immune adjustment，antifibrosis of pulmonary tissue，relieving the side-effect of hormone，but solve the problems existed in Chinese traditional medical research on SARS.
