The transcatheter closure of perimembraneous ventricular septal defect using asymme tric membraneous VSD device

  • Objective: To evaluate the feasibility of transcatheter closure of Perimembraneous Ventricular Septal Defects (PVSD). This paper, however, is to report on our clinical experience using Asymmetric membraneous VSD Amplatzer Occluder Device(AAOD). Methods: Between June in 2002 to June in 2003, PVSD for 32 patients was diagnosed. Results: The device was correctly placed in 32 patients except 1 case with soft aneurysm of perimembraneous VSD. There was immediate and complete closure of PVSD in 31 patients. TTE showed there was complete closure of the PVSDs in 31 patients from first day to 6 months after operation. Conclusion: Transcatheter closure of PVSDs using asymmetric perimembraneous VSDs Amplatzer occluder device was an excellently efficient, feasible nonsurgical method. The successful rate of technique was for 97% in this group.
