Active specific immunotherapy of a murine metastatic Lewis tumor using a cancer vaccine against adenocarcinoma

Abstract
Objective: To observe the inhibiting roles of tumor growth and metastasis and the efficacy of immune response, the metastatic Lewis lung tumor bearing mice were inoculated a cancer vaccine against adenocarcinoma developed in this department.Methods: Three dosage vaccine groups were administered sc., totally 4 times. When the third vaccine immunization while the mice were received injections of metastatic Lewis lung tumor tissue suspension at subaxillary sc.. Then mice were sacrificed on limited day and examined their tumor weights, numbers of metastatic rates of lung. Results: All of mice represented tumors but the median weights of tumor, the vaccine groups were more light than the control groups (normal saline group, cyclophosphamide group and rIL-2 group, P <0.05~0.01);the metastatic rates of lung, the vaccine groups were lower than the control groups ( P <0.05~0 01) and the numbers of metastatic focus of lung, vaccine groups compared with control groups, displayed a significant difference ( P <0.001). Conclusion: This study indicates that our prepared tumor vaccine can be recognized by the mice immune system and may play the roles to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis.
