Comparison of two methods for Helicobacter Pylori detection

Objective To compare the accuracy of urea breath test （UBT） and stool antigen detection of Helicobacter pylori（HP） in patients with non-Hodgkin’s gastric lymphoma. Methods UBT and stool antigen detection were performed to detect HP in 25 patients with non-Hodgkin’s gastric lymphoma using pathological results as controls. The accuracy of the two methods for PH detection was compared. Results The sensitivity,specificity, positive and negative predictive value, and accuracy of stool antigen detection for HP were 81.3%, 88.9%, 92.9%, 72.7% and 84%, respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, and accuracy of UBT for PH detection were 93.8%, 100%, 100%, 90% and 96%, respectively. Conclusion The accuracy of UBT is better than stool antigen detection for the detection of HP.
