Abstract
Objective To compare the therapeutic effect of nano-hydroxyapatite/ polyamide 66 and autologous bone composite on repair of bone defects due to benign bone tumor. Methods Fifty-two patients with bone defects due to benign bone tumors admitted to our hospital in January 2007-March 2009 were randomly divided into group A and group B.Curettage of tumors was performed in patients of groups A and B.The cavities of tumors were filled with nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 and autologous bone composite, respectively,in group A and group B.The wound was routinely sutured. The operation time, blood loss in operation, blood sedimentation, and C-reactive protein were compared and the healing of bone defects was assessed. Results The operation time was shorter and blood lose during operation was less in group A than in group B(P<0.01).No statistical difference was observed in healing of bone defects after operation between the two groups. Conclusion Nano-hydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 can be used in repair of bone defects due to benign bone tumors.
