Infectious complication in bone marrow and fetal liver transplantation for acute leukemia: A clinical analysis of 10 cases

Abstract
Ten patients with acute leukemia (ALL 3, ANLL 7) in first (7 patients), second (1) nd third (2) remission were given CTX and DRN, followed by total body irradiation and an LAidentical allogeneic marrow transplantation (BMT,2 patients) or multiple fetal liver ransplantation (FLT, 8 patients). The mean age of patients was 15.4 years (range 6—24). The otal number of infection in BMT and FLT was 15 time. Clinical syndromes of infection were epticeamia (4 patients), oral ulcer——infection (1), nasal and facial infection (1), oral erpes (2), upper respiratory tract infection (2), interstitial pneumonia (1), perineal viral nfection (1), variceua (1) venous catheter infection (1) and obscure fever (1). Infections ere atisfactorily controlled in 12 instances. In 3 instances treatment was unsuccessful. rophylaxis and management of infection. in transplantation phase were discussed.
