The determination of plasma MLI and its preliminary clinical investigation

Two hundred forty-nine fasting plasma samples devided into ten groups, using RIA method, were measured. The results showed that, the levels of MLI in all diseased groups were significantly higher than the normal controls. The MLI values showed a special appearence of aged adults, which was different from diseased groups. Concentrations of acute enteritis, IBS, iatrogenic diarrhea were higher than those who were diagnosed as constipation. Patients with cancers of different origen contained a higher MLI values than those with benign diseases. In this paper MLI concentrations in malignant GI tumors and diabetes showed a significant increase compared with all other groups. The cause of this phenomena remainer to be studied. Besides, different concentrations of MLI in patients with gastric carcinoma encountered of truncal and selective vagotomy during gastrectomy were also studied.
