Clinical significance of urine special protein test in elderly diabetic mellitus patients

  • Objective To study the changes of different urine special proteins b2-MG,mAlb,IgG,α1-MG in elderly diabetic mellitus(DM) patients with kidney injuryMethods A total of 284 elderly DM patients were divided into 3 groups according to the grade of diabetic nephropathy and the time they suffered from the disease,60 healthy old persons served a control group.Levels of urine special proteins including b2-MG,mAlb,IgG,α1-M in 284 elderly patients and 60 healthy controls were measured. The clinical indexes for the impaired kidney function were analyzedResults The levels of urine b2-MG,mAlb,IgG,and α1-MG were significantly higher in DM patients than in controls(P<0.01),and increased with the progress and prolongation of nephropathy(P<0.05)Conclusion The levels of b2-MG,mAlb,IgG,and α1-MG are the indications of impaired kidney function in elderly DM patients and are of certain value for judging the severity and site of impaired kidney function.
