Replacement of simple common coronary angiography with CT coronary angiography:A retrospective study

  • Objective To study the feasibility to replace simple common coronary angiography(CCA)with computed tomography coronary angiography(CTCA). Methods A total of 568 patients with their greatest coronary artery stricture≤50%,as shown at simple CCA in our department from June 16,2007 to June 17,2008,were enrolled in this study.Of the 568 patients,102 underwent CTCA within 1 month after admission. The findings at CTCA and CCA were compared. Results Eighty patients underwent simple CCA,19 patients were checked after stenting, and 3 patients were reexamined after coronary artery bypass grafting(CABG).Diagnostic errors of CCA and CTCA were found in 8 and 19 patients with a diagnostic rate of 92.2%and 84.2%,respectively. Conclusion CTCA can accurately determine patients who do not need revascularization including those after stenting and is,therefore,of an important value in clinical practice.
