Objective: To develop a standard system for dermatophytes identification. Methods: Using the improved KANE/FISCHER system to identify the ATCC strains and clinical isolates of common dermatophytes. Results: The improved KANE/FISCHER system can identify the common dermatophytes. Conclusions: The improved KANE/FISCHER system can be used as the standard system to identify the common dermatophytes to species level.
