Abstract
The results of F-VEP in optic atrophy of 82 eyes of 51 patients were presented. It was observed that the abnormal manifestations of F-VEP were delayed(averaging) peak latency, decreased averaging amplitude, decreased number of wavelets or extinguished F-VEP. The abnormal F-VEP was present in 56% of cases and had no relationship with sex. The abnomal F-VEP was not related with the duration of the disease but the status of visual acuity. It existed in all eyes without light perception but not necessarily extinguished. It was therefore advocated that the extinguished F-VEP may be a decisive evidence that the eye is completely forfeited in its visual function.
