Effect of ribavirin aerosol on herpetic angina of children

Objective To study the clinical effect of ribavirin aerosol on herpetic angina of children. Methods A total of 80 children,diagnosed as herpetic angina,were randomly divided into ribavirin aerosol treatment group and control group（n=40）with no statistical difference in gender,age,disease course and clinical symptoms.Patients in treatment group received ribavirin aerosol while those in control group administered oral shuanghuanglian liquid for 5 days,respectively. Results A statistical difference was found in pyretolysis,pharyngodynia,and ulcer healing between the two groups after treatment. Conclusion Ribavirin aerosol has a rapid and significant effect on herpetic angina of children with no side effects and can thus be used as the first line drug for herpetic angina of children.
