Change in nitrogen excretion after cardiac surgery in 10 cases

This article deals with the change in urinary excretion of urea nitrogen after cardiac surgery. During the study the following pattern was found.The total urinary nitrogen excretion was not significantly;increased but reduced in the early postoperation stage.This phenomenon continued for a much rather prolonged time.Hypothermic anesthesia was probably the principal cause of this pattern.This paper expounded the harm of malnutrition on the negative nitrogen balance and pointed out the possible ways for the prevent of this condition.
