Dynamic detection of cardiac structure and function in patients with chronic renal failure

Abstract
Pulsed doppler echocardiography was used to evaluate the changes of left ventricular structure and function in 30 patients with chronic renal failure (CRF). The left ventricular weight(LVWI) and systolic function showed no chenges as compared with the controls in the early stage of CRF. But the decrement of VE (peak early velocity) and the increase in VE/VA (peak late velocity) indicated the damage of the diastolic function. After 13-months follow up, the LVWI elavated significantly, while the VE diminished further. The ejection fraction(EF), shortening fraction(FS) and circumfrancial shortening velocity(mVcf)decreased patently as compared with those present before the follow-up. 47.7% of the patients showed left ventricular heart failure.
