Correlation between CD147 and VEGF expression and pathological parameter in human tongue squamous cell carcinoma

  • Objective To study the correlation between CD147 and VEGF expression and pathologic parameters in tongue squmous cell carcinoma(TSCC). Methods Forty-five TSCC patients enrolled this study were divided into several groups according to their lymphatic metastasis, sex, age, histological grade, and TNM stages.Immunohistochemistry SP was performed to measure the expression levels of CD147 and VEGF in tumor tissue samples.Chi-square test and Spearman rank correlation were used to process the statistical data. Results The positive expression rate of CD147 and VEGF was 86.7% and 71.1%,respectively,in tumor tissue samples, higher than that in normal tissue samples(P<0.05).The expression of CD147 and VEGF was correlated with TNM stages and lymph node metastases(P<0.05) but not correlated with histological grade, age and sex(P>0.05).The expression of CD147 and VEGF was positively correlated(P<0.01,r=0.471). Conclusion CD147 and VEGF are over-expressed in TSCC and can be used as a reliable indicator for the biological behaviors of TSCC and its clinical therapy.
