Serum levels of lactic dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, total protein and albumin in patients with malignant lymphoma

Objective To study the value of serum lactic dehydrogenase（LDH）,alkaline phosphatase（ALP）,total protein（TP） and albumin（ALB） levels in diagnosis of malignant lymphoma. Methods Serum LDH,ALP,TP and ALB levels were measured in 226 patients with malignant lymphoma and 50 healthy controls using a Hitachi 7600 automatic biochemistry analyzer. Results The serum LDH level was significantly higher（P＜0.05） while the serum ALB level was significantly lower（P＜0.01） in patients with malignant lymphoma than in controls.The serum ALP level was significantly higher in patients with Hodgkin′s lymphoma（HL） and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma（DLBCL） than in controls while the serum TP level was significantly lower in patients with DLBCL and other types of lymphoma than in controls. Conclusion Serum LDH,ALP,TP and ALB levels can be used as accessory indicators in diagnosis of malignant lymphoma while serum LDH,ALP and TP levels can be used as accessory indicators for clinical staging.
