The Technique for Measurement of Cochlear Microcirculation and Endocochlear Potential Simultaneously in Guinea Pigs

Abstract
Cochlear microcirculation plays an important role in maintaining the normal functon of the auditory system. So observation of the microcirculation of the cochlea and the auditory function and the accessment of the relationship between the changes in cochlear microcirculation and auditory dysfunctions are valuable for understanding the mechanisms underlying some auditory dysfunctions induced by insufficient cochlear blood flow. In previous studies, however, major interests were directed toward the changes in cochlear blood flow itself, but much less attention was directed to the observation of cochlear function and cochlear microcirculation simultaneously. This paper intraduced the technique for measurement of cochlear microcirculation and endocochlear potential(EP) simultaneously and measured the changes in the microcirculation and endocohlear potential in the guinea pig with iscbemia of the cochlea. The current data indicate that this method can provides a dynamic quantitative assessment of cochlear microcirculation and EP.
