Significance of serum lipid and lipoprotein levels in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer

  • Objective To study the significance of serum lipid level in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. Methods Serum levels of total cholesterol(CH),high-density lipoprotein(HDL),low-density lipoprotein(LDL),triglycerides(TG),apolipoprotein A1(ApoA1),apolipoprotein B(ApoB) and lipoprotein(lpa) were measured in 146 patients with cardiovascular disease,71 patients with diabetes,74 patients with cancer and 76 healthy controls with a Hitachi automatic biochemistry analyzer. Results The serum levels of CH,ApoA1,LDL,HDL,Lpa,TG,and ApoB were significantly higher in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetics and cancer than in controls(P<0.05). Conclusion The serum lipid level is different in patients with different diseases which can be early discovered by measuring the serum lipid level.
