Blood flow detemination of the ophthalmic and central retina arteries with color Doppler echography in senile hypertensive patients

Abstract
Objective: The blood flow of ophthalmic and central retinal arteries was measured by color Doppler ultrasound to understand the state of blood circulation and to provide reasonable data in 74 senile hypentensives. Methods: The blood flow velocity of the systolic and diastolic phase, the resistance and pulse indexes of ophthalmic and central retinal artery were measured with Acuson-128 computer sound spectrum. Results: The blood flow velocity、the peripheral vascular resistance and the blood flow of the end diastolic phase were distinctly decreased as compared with the controls. Conclusion: Our data indicate that it may be very useful in understanding the state and the extent of ophthalmic arteriosclerosis and obstruction in senile hypertensive patients by measuring the blood flow of the ophthalmic and central retinal artery with color Doppler ultrasound.
