Abstract
In this paper, the value of rheoencephalography (REG) in the diagnosis of ischemic stroke was investigated. 43 ischemic stroke patients were selected. Of the 43 patients 17 showed left hemispheric lesion and 26 right hemispheric lesion. 42 healthy subjects served as normal controls. The ages of both groups were well matched, ranging from 41 to 60 years. The apparatus used is “Officine Galileo ECG Model C2a, Rheo-preamp Model R 152z” which is made in Italy. It comprises two channels, allowing simultaneous recording from both sides. The eleven parameters derived from fronto-mastoid leads of both sides were analyzed. Our results revealed that nine parameters were asymmetriacl and there were changes of dicrotic wave. A preliminary discussion on the results obtained is presented. It suggests that REG may be a valuable adjunct in the diagnosis of ischemic stroke.
