Blood loss in 624 cases after cesarean section

Objective To study how to improve the nursing for women after cesarean section by measuring the blood loss during the first 24 hours after cesarean section.Methods Postpartum blood loss of 624 women was immediately measured with the weighing method 24 hours after cesarean section.Blood routine examination was performed 1-2 days before and cesarean section.Women with more blood loss underwent corresponding examinations and treatment.Results The average blood loss was 265.14±160.42ml during operation and 152.51±160.42ml during first 24h after operation.The total blood loss was 416.98±208.76ml during the first 24 hours after operation.When the blood loss≥400ml after cesarean section was used as the diagnostic criteria of postpartum hemorrhage,the blood loss rate was 6.89% and when the blood loss≥500ml after cesarean section was used as the diagnostic criteria of postpartum hemorrhage,the blood loss rate was 14.90%（P＜0.05）.The blood loss was≥100ml in 76.76%（479/624） women during the first 24h after cesarean section.Uterine inertia was found to be the primary factor for postpartum hemorrhage.Conclusion Management of women after cesarean section should be strengthened in order to reduce their postpartum hemorrhage.
