Relationship between risk factors of coronary heart disease and insulin resistance in the patients surviving myocardial infarction

Objective: This paper analysed the distribution of risk factors of coronary heat disease （CHD） related to insulin-resistance in 224 survivors of myocardial infarction.Results: The frequency of hypertension, hyperglycemia, hyper-triglyceridemia and low high density cholesterol were 49.1%, 47.3%, 28.1% and 12.1%, respectively. In the subgroups without or with 1, 2 or more than 3 CHD risk factors above mentioned （group A、 B、 C、 D）, the insulin sensitivity （IS） was decreased as the number of risk factors increased. If the IS in group A was defined as 1.0, then the IS in group B、 C and D was 0.84, 0.74 and 0.54 respectively （P＜0.01, ＜0.01 and ＜0.001 compared with the group before it）.Conclusion: Thus it indicatd that the clustering of risk factors of CHD was significantly related to the severity of IS in this population.
