Exploration of procedures for treatment of acetabular dysplasia in 289 cases

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the procedures for the treatment of acetabular dysplasia in 289 children. Methods: Retrospective analysis of 289 cases with acetabular dysplasia treated from December of 1997 to December of 2007 was carried out according to McKay clinical criteria of hip joint and Willett radiological measurement.49 patients were male and 240 patients female.Of the 289 cases,195 had acetabular dysplasia in the left side,42 in the right and 52 in the bilateral.The average age when operations were performed was 5.9 years with a range of 1.5 to 14 years. Results: 281 of the 289 cases were followed up for a period of 9 months to 8 years(an average of 26.7 months) and the percentage of excellent and good results was 95.7%. Conclusion: Proper treatment procedures should be chosen according to the age of patients and the severity of acetabular dysplasia.
