Influence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and essential hypertension on the angiographic characteristics of coronary heart disease in coronary heart disease patients

  • Objective: To study the influence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and essential hypertension on the angiographic characteristics of coronary heart disease(CHD) in CHD patients. Methods: The study was carried by the analysis of the data from selective coronary angiography in CHD patients in different groups divided by with or without type 2 diabetes mellitus(DM) and essential hypertension(EH).Results: Compared with simple CHD patients,CHD patients with EH had greater rate of coronary vessels involvement, narrow degree more severe and more diffuse lesions, while CHD patients with DM tended to have greater rate of coronary vessels involvement and more diffuse lesions.Compared with CHD patients with EH,CHD patients with DM had greater rate of coronary vessels involvement, narrow degree more severe and more diffuse lesions.Compared with CHD patients with DM and EH,CHD patients with EH had lower rate of coronary vessels involvement and less diffuse lesions, while CHD patients with DM had no significant difference in coronary vessel involvements, narrow degree of vascular lesions, narrow positions and diffuse lesions. Conclusion: Both essential hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus especially type 2 diabetes mellitus could aggravate the angio-lesions in CHD patients.
