Quality and significance of interleukin-6 and its receptor in gastric cancer tissue

  • Objective: To study quality and clinical sinificance of interleukin 6(IL 6) and its receptor(IL 6R) in gastric cancer and their surrounding tissues. Methods: We detected IL 6 and IL 6R levels on semi qualitative and parallel bases by ELISA in 30 gastric cancers and their surrounding tissues. Results: Both IL 6 and IL 6R levels in 30 gastric tissues are significantly higher than those of surrounding And the levels are correlated with clinicopathologic finds, including proliferative activity and tumor size The IL 6 and IL 6R levels in gastric cancer tissues with lymph node metastases and infiltrated in muscular layer and serosal layer were obviously high The IL 6 and IL 6R levels in gastric cancer tissues of stage ⅢandⅣwere much higher than those of stage Ⅰand Ⅱ The IL 6 levels in gastric cancer tissues with bigger tumor and less proliferative activity were obviously high. Conclusion: It suggested that the IL 6 and IL 6R levels in gastric cancer tissues are significantly high in protein level and correlated with the clinicopathologic finds As a result,it shows that the high levels of IL 6 and IL 6R are important methods of prejudging gastric cancer invasion and metastasis, which is useful to direct the clinic diognosis and curument and judge the development and prognosis of this disease
