Hypoxia enhances the proliferation of rat skeletal myoblast in vitro

  • Objective: To explore the role of hypoxia in rat skeletal myoblastic proliferation.Methods: We observed theeffects of hypoxia(10%O2、3%O2) and CoCl2on the proliferation of rat skeletal myoblasts.Cell numbers were determined byhemacytometer count.The proliferation indexes were detected by flowcytometer.Results: The numbers and proliferation indexeswere higer(P<0.05) in physiological hypoxia than in those of control group.10%O2hypoxia had more obvious effect.CoCl2had no effect on proliferation of these cells.Conclusion: Hypoxia can promote the proliferation of rat skeletal myoblasts.It is pos-sible to provide a new way for abundantly cultivating these cells.
