Study of inhibitive effect of hen egg-white lysozyme on hepatitis B virus

Objective: To examine the antiviral effect of hen egg-white lysozyme（HEWL） against hepatitis B virus（HBV）.Methods:The inhibitory activity of HEWL against HBV was tested in vitro on 2.2.15 cells,using matrin as control.Data elaboration was carried out by calculation of the cytopathic effect（CPE）and ELISA.Results: The maximum nontoxic concentration（TC₀） and the 50% toxic concentration（TC₅₀） of HEWL on 2.2.15 cell were all ＞1000 μg·mL^-1,the 50% inhibitory concentration（IC₅₀） of HEWL to HBsAg was（213.0±71.3）μg·mL^-1,HEWL had no effect on HBeAg.The TC₀ and TC₅₀ of matrin were all ＞250 μg·mL^-1,the 50% inhibitory IC₅₀ of matrin to HBsAg was（54.2±17.1）μg·mL^-1,matrin also had no effect on HBeAg.Conclusion:HEWL can inhibit the activity of HBV by inhibiting the expression of HBsAg,but has not effect on HBeAg.
