Abstract
Objective: To examine the antiviral effect of hen egg-white lysozyme(HEWL) against hepatitis B virus(HBV).Methods:The inhibitory activity of HEWL against HBV was tested in vitro on 2.2.15 cells, using matrin as control.Data elaboration was carried out by calculation of the cytopathic effect(CPE)and ELISA.Results: The maximum nontoxic concentration(TC0) and the 50% toxic concentration(TC50) of HEWL on 2.2.15 cell were all >1000 μg·mL-1,the 50% inhibitory concentration(IC50) of HEWL to HBsAg was(213.0±71.3)μg·mL-1,HEWL had no effect on HBeAg.The TC0 and TC50 of matrin were all >250 μg·mL-1,the 50% inhibitory IC50 of matrin to HBsAg was(54.2±17.1)μg·mL-1,matrin also had no effect on HBeAg.Conclusion:HEWL can inhibit the activity of HBV by inhibiting the expression of HBsAg,but has not effect on HBeAg.
