Relationship between lipoprotein gene polymorphism and blood lipids in the pilots

  • Objective To investigate the relationship between lipoprotein(LPL) gene polymorphism and serum lipids in the pilots. Methods The genotypes of LPL gene HindⅢ,PvuⅡand Ser447Ter sites were assayed by polymerase chain reaction-restricted fragments length polymorphism, and blood lipids were detected by stipulated methods on 106 pilots and 98 control subjects. Results There is no statistical difference in genotypes and alleles frequency of LPL gene HindⅢ,PvuⅡand Ser447Ter sites in the pilots and control subjects.Hyperlipidemia prevalence(52.83%) of the pilots is much higher than that of the control(29.59%).There was a close relationship between different genotypes of LPL gene HindⅢ and Ser447Ter site and levels of triglyceride(TG) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C) in pilots, and there was a close relationship between different genotypes of PvuⅡsite and levels of TG,total cholesterol(TC) and HDL-C.Conclusion LPL gene polymorphism is a genetic factor on the pilot individual serum lipid levels, and environment factors are important in inducing hyperlipidemia of the pilots.
