Consideration on the developing disaster medicine and improving the system for handling public health incident

As a branch of medicine aimed at the regular laws of medical aid in times of disaster，disaster medicine plays a theoretically tremendous role in the improvement of system for handling public health incidents in China.A full exploration of the inherent laws of the establishment of such a system can in turn enrich disaster medicine theories.The development of disaster medicine requires a long-term as well as a short-term strategic goal and developmental strategy，with special reference to China’ s public health incidents such as SARS.The short-term strategy is aimed at the improvement of the system for handling public health incidents，while the long-term goal is the establishment of disaster medicine theories.We should grasp this great opportunity ，draw on the advanced theories and experiences，both domestic and foreign，and establish a disaster medicine theory system suited to China’s conditions.
