Otogenic intracranial and extracranial complications

In order to accumulate the experiences in the treatament of Chronic Otitis media （COM）, 186 cases of Otogenic intracranial and extracranial complications in 505 cases after mastoidectomies, done in our Hospital, were analyzed. The rate of complications was 36.8% in all COM cases in 110 cases there were mono-Complications （59.2%）, while some cases simultaneously suffered from 2—5 types of complications, the socalled multi-complications （40.2%）. The rate of intracranial complications was very low, only 15.8%, but more seious. The mechanisms for forming cholesteatoma and common complications were discussed.
