EVALUATION OF THERAPEUTIC EFFECT IN 33 PATIENTS WITH CUSHING’S DISEASE

  • The therapeutic results in 33 cases of Cuhing’s Disease with different methods in 41 instances (simple pituitary irradiation, 7, adenalectomy, 11, adrenalectomy plus pituitary irradiation, 20, transsphenoidal hypophesectomy, 2, and untreaded, 1,) were evaluated after 0.5—12 year fellow-up. Our data revealed that unilateral total adrenalectomy on one side and partial adrenalectomy on the opposide side followed by pituitary irradiation gave the most favourable results with a remission rate of 75%, while the remission rate of simple adrenalectomy and simple pituitary irradiation being 27.2% and 28.57% respectively(p<0.01). Recently, transsphenoidal hypophysectomy is consdidered as more reasonable. Since Such a surgical approach was adopted in only two instances in the preasent series, any assessment of its value would seem inappropriate.
