Research on intragastric bile acids in chromic gastritis

1 hour’s intragastric bile acids after fasting and injection with pentagastrin were etermined by radioimmunoassay and thinlayer chromatographic scanning in 102 cases of chronic astritis. The results showed that the concentration of all intragastric conjuncted bile acids as higher in chronic atrophic gastritis than that in chronic superficial gastritis. Both ntragastric bile acids and nitrite levels were increased significantly inpatients with acute nflammation, glandular atrophy and moderate or severe intestinal metaplasis. These findings uggest that bile acids may be implicated in premalignant histological changes of gastric ucosa uch as those in chromic atrophic gastritis. Determinination of intragastric bile acids may eflect the degree and injurious effect of duodenalagstric reflux and injections with entagastrin may increase duodenalgastric reflux.
