Effect of low-dose aspirin use on large intestine polyps in elderly

Objective: To investigate effect of low-dose aspirin use on large intestine polyps in elderly. Methods: 52 subjects using low-dose aspirin and 63 controls were analyzed retrospectively according to colonoscopy examination results. Results: Large intestine polyp burden per year in subjects using low-dose aspirin for 4～6 years was lower significantly than that in subjects before using aspirin （1.3±1.8）vs（2.9±5.2）mm per year, P ＜0.05 .The polyp burden after using aspirin for 0～2 years （2.6±6.6）mm per yearand 2～4 years（2.0±3.8）mm per year was not different in comparison with that before using aspirin respectively（P ＞0.05）. Conclusions: Long-term low-dose aspirin use in elderly can inhibit growth of large intestine polyps.
