Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy and safety of combined fludarabine and rituximab therapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia in old patients. Methods Eleven old patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in our department were treated with combined fludarabine and rituximab(25-30mg/m2 every other day or 1-2 days per week by intravenous injection,or 10-20mg per day by oral administration). The adverse effects and efficacy of combined fludarabine and rituximab therapy were observed during and after the treatment. Results CR+PR was observed in 10 patients, and CR,PR,and NR were found in 6,4,and 1 patients, respectively. The main adverse effects occurred in the patients were leucocytopenia and thrombocytopenia. No severe infection and chemotherapy-related death occurred. Conclusion Combined fludarabine and rituximab therapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia in old patients is rather effective and safe.
