Diagnosis and treatment of jugular phlebectasia

Objective: To study the diagnosis and treatment of jugular phlebectasia. Methods: From 1990 to 2004,37 patients were confirmed as jugular phlebectasia by physical examination and ultrasound. The patients were treated surgically by wrapping and narrowing the diameter of internal jugular veins（IJV） to normal with vascular graft. Results: All patients were cured.After 8 years follow-up,no recurrence and complication were noted. Conclusions: Jugular phlebectasia can be confirmed with physical examination and ultrasound.The procedure of internal jugular vein wrapped and narrowed with vascular graft is simple and effective.
