Disqualified medical conditions found in physical examination of new fighter pilots during 2004-2008

Objective To analyze the disqualified medical conditions found in physical examination of new fighter pilots. Methods Medical data collected from 102 disqualified pilots of new fighters in their physical examination during 2004-2008 were analyzed and compared with those collected during 1999-2003. Results The disqualified medical conditions in pilots of new fighters found in physical examination included lower +G tolerance to centrifuge test than the set standard in 59（58.4%）,surgical disease in 26（25.7%）,medical disease in 9（7.9%）,neurological disease in 4（4.0%）,otolaryngologic disease in 4（3.0%）,and ophthalmologic disease in 1（0.9%）pilots,respectively.Compared with the data collected during 1999-2003,the rate of lower +G tolerance to centrifuge test than the set standard increased,leading to final flying grownding rate decreased.The incidence of ophthalmologic disease decreased. Conclusion The main disqualified medical conditions in pilots of new fighters found in their physical examination are lower +G tolerance to centrifuge test than the set standard and orthopedic disease.Physiological function training of new fighter pilots,and prevention and treatment of spinal disorders should be strengthened,and such social and mental problems should be solved.
