Effects of short term biofeedback training on the voltage changes of reconstructed EAS for children suffering from anal injuries

  • Objective: To study the effects of short term biofeedback training on the voltage changes of reconstructed EAS (external anal sphincter) for children suffering from anal injuries. Methods: Using the products of CTD company-biofeedback machine (PC POLYGRAM), with the help of the muscle electronic signals and language feedback of the operator, seven children suffering from complete injury of EAS who were treated with graciloplasty fulfilled the functional rehabilitation of the pelvic muscles and EAS.Results: With a mean number of six sessions of biofeedback, the effects of biofeedback training showed significance with the elevation of the mean value of EAS integrated voltage and that of the squeezing voltage. Conclusion: For the children with EAS injury treated with graciloplasty, through short period training of biofeedback, the elevation of squeezing voltage followed by the integrated voltage can be obtained, While it will be a long time to get the elevation of relaxing voltage.
