Abstract
Sequential follow -up BAEP, compared with CT scanning, was studied in 70 cases of vetebral-basilar ischemic diseases for 2 months to 3 years. The positive results of BAEP in infarct group were obtained in 26/30 (86.6%) cases, in ischemic group were in 25/40 (62.5%) cases. Only 11 (36.6%) cases in infarct group revealed abnormal CT findings. Positive findings of BAEP showed a much more higher rate in the early stage of disease. Through dynamic observa tions it was proved that the changes of BAEP findings were closely related to their clinical menifestations. In conclusion, BAEP is a reliable examination in the early diagnosis of vetebralbasilar diseases and its sequential follow-up is feasible in the evaluation of prognosis of the disease.
